Invite-only alpha on TestFlight

Ink, in flight.

Paperlark is a PDF and note-taking app for Mac, iPad and the web. Type, write and draw on the same page, in a calm space that keeps you focused. It's even better with friends: each stroke appears on every screen while you're still drawing.

Features

As light as paper, as versatile as you need.

Everything you need to read, mark up, type, draw and organise, in a calm space that stays out of your way.

Type, and keep going

Flow turns a page into a word processor. Start typing and your notes run onto new pages as you write, on lined, dotted or grid paper. Headings, LaTeX and code included, and your handwriting sits right alongside.

Pressure, not pixels

A pen and highlighter that respond to how hard you press. A highlighter stroke never darkens where it crosses itself.

Text anywhere

Drop a Markdown block anywhere on a page, even over a PDF: tables, task lists, LaTeX and highlighted code. Several people can type in one block at once.

A lasso that listens

Items are selected as you draw the lasso. Scale, rotate, layer and nudge, with a soft haptic tick on Pencil Pro.

Picks up where you left off

Everything saves itself as you go. Your folders, open files and place on the page are waiting next time.

Pages, your way

Add pages in plain, lined, dotted or grid paper, duplicate, rotate and drag thumbnails into a new order. Undo works through all of it, on every device.

Together, when you want

One page, every screen.

When you want company, the Mac or iPad holding your PDF shares it. Others join from their own device and work on the same page, with nothing to sign up for.

  1. I

    Open a PDF

On your Mac or iPad. Add whole folders and they come along too, subfolders and all.

  2. II

    Let others in

An iPad or Mac finds you nearby. A browser just scans a QR code. No accounts, no invites.

  3. III

    Draw together

Everyone gets a name and a colour. See each other's pointers, follow someone as they read, or use Focus Here to bring everyone to your page.

Portable

Lock in on your work, without any lock-in.

Paperlark is a native Mac and iPad app. It works on your files right where they are, in Finder or the Files app, and saves everything into the PDF itself.

  • No cloud account or subscription needed. They're plain PDFs, easy to share any way you like.
  • Saved in a format Apple Preview understands, so files open there and in any PDF reader.
  • Drawings and markup stay editable, in Paperlark and in Preview.

Performance

Ink at the speed of thought.

Paperlark draws straight on the GPU. Every stroke lands the moment your Pencil touches down, and stays buttery on pages with thousands of them.

Quiet by design

Nothing between you and the page.

No account

Open the app and start writing. There's nothing to sign up for.

Your files stay yours

We never store your documents or your data. They live on your Mac or iPad, nowhere else.

Questions

Is it only for working together?

Not at all. Paperlark is a complete PDF and note-taking app, made to keep you focused. Sharing is there for the days you want it.

What do others need to join me?

Another Mac or iPad with Paperlark, or just a web browser. Browsers join by scanning a QR code or opening a link, and on iPad you can add Paperlark to the Home Screen so it opens full screen.

Do we need to be in the same place?

For now, devices need to be on the same network, or able to reach the host's address.

Where are my files kept?

Wherever you already keep them. Paperlark opens PDFs in place from Finder or the Files app and saves changes back into the same file. There's no library, no import step and no copy to keep in sync.

Will my PDFs still open elsewhere?

Yes. Files stay ordinary PDFs. Annotations are saved the way Preview saves them, and ink is written as sharp vectors.

What do I need to run it?

macOS 26 or iPadOS 26. A keyboard is all you need to type with Flow. For drawing, Apple Pencil is best, and a finger, mouse or trackpad work too.
